TESTING AT LITTLEFORD DAY
Littleford Day, Inc. maintains a modern state-of-the-art Technical Center in Florence, Kentucky, exclusively for mixer evaluation and Polyphase® Reactor development studies. This Technical Center is staffed by engineers, chemists, and technicians who have over 40 years of combined mixing experience and are intimately acquainted with the specific process requirements of the food, pharmaceutical, plastics, chemical, and other associated industries.

The Technical Center equipment consists of mixers, reactors, dryers, granulators and/or intensive mixer/coolers of various sizes and designs. Each jacketed piece of equipment is piped to a manifold heating (steam or hot water) and cooling (chilled or tempered water) system. Support equipment also available includes a hot oil recirculation system, a vacuum drying system (with solvent recovery capability), an air/inert gas feed system, liquid atomization(including single and two fluid nozzles), pressure and or vacuum filtration system, and full instrumentation.

A typical test program takes one full day including pre-mixing and post-mixing discussions and engineering review. The number of test runs that can be completed in one day depends on the complexity of the process being evaluated. Such processes typically include solid-solids and liquid-solids mixing, dispersions, reactions, vacuum and air purge drying, filtration's, extractions and heat transfer trials. Normally each test run consists of two or three cubic feet of product. Larger or smaller batches can be tested depending on the material being processed and equipment availability.
